Course Title
OSHA #2255 Principles of Ergonomics

Course Description 
This course covers the use of ergonomic principles to recognize, evaluate, and control workplace conditions that cause or contribute to musculoskeletal and nerve disorders. Course topics include work physiology, anthropometry, musculoskeletal disorders, use of video display terminals, and risk factors such as vibration, temperature, repetition, material handling, repetition, and lifting and transfers in health care. Course emphasis is on industrial case studies covering analysis and design of work stations and equipment, laboratory sessions in manual lifting, and coverage of current OSHA compliance policies and guidelines.

Course Objectives 
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the ability to recognize work-related musculoskeletal and nerve disorders, assess employer’s ergonomic programs, and conduct ergonomic evaluations. Minimum student contact hours: 18

Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a Webcam and Microphone. Participants will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as their browser for compatibility with Canvas.

Please read:  The virtual course will consist of live-online Zoom sessions, as well as pre and post session activities in Canvas, our online learning management system. A federal, state, or local government issued photo ID (present at check-in on the first day of class). Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a Webcam and Microphone. You must attend 100% of all Zoom sessions and complete all required online course assignments in order to receive an electronic certificate of completion and CEUs. Students will need to keep their Video On throughout the class to confirm attendance and participation in the course. Attending the course on an I-Phone, tablet or iPad is not allowed. You will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as your browser for compatibility with Canvas. Use of multiple devices, taking photos or recording any part of the training sessions is not allowed. Participants will need to attend a short orientation session prior to the start of the course. During this time, we’ll ensure that your laptop or computer, webcam and audio are functioning properly. We’ll also introduce you to Canvas and explain how to navigate and find all required training materials and coursework assignments.
