Course Title
OSHA #511: Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry

Course Description 
This course covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in general industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards, general industry principles and special emphasis on those areas in general industry which are most hazardous.

Course Objectives 
Upon course completion students will have the ability to define general industry terms found in the OSHA General Industry Standards, identify hazards which occur in general industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of OSHA General Industry Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program. Minimum student contact hours: 26

Special Notice: 
A copy of the OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Manual will be sent via UPS to each participant.

Course Materials and Required Software Applications
Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a Webcam and Microphone. Participants will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as their browser for compatibility with Canvas.

Please read:  This virtual course consists of live-online Zoom sessions, as well as pre- and post-session activities in Canvas, our online learning management system. Participation in this virtual OSHA numbered course is limited to participants working or living within the Great Lakes Region 5 (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota). A federal, state, or local government issued photo ID must be presented at check-in on the first day of class. Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a webcam and microphone. You must attend 100% of all Zoom sessions and complete all required online course assignments in order to receive an electronic certificate of completion and CEUs. Students will need to keep their video on throughout the class to confirm attendance and participation. Attending the course on an I-Phone, tablet or iPad is not allowed. You will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as your browser for compatibility with Canvas. Use of multiple devices, taking photos or recording any part of the training sessions is not allowed. Approximately one week prior to the start date of the course, a reminder email with a short orientation video and instructions for course access will be sent to you via email.
