Course Description
This course introduces the student to the application of ergonomic principles to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). Topics include anthropometry, musculoskeletal disorders, workstation design, and workplace physical stressors, such as force, repetition, vibration and environment. Course highlights include (1) application workshop using the NIOSH lifting equation, (2) practical application of ergonomic checklists in the review of jobs, workstations and/or equipment, and (3) coverage of OSHA's policy on ergonomics. Minimum student contact hours: 18
