Course Description
This course covers industrial robots, robot systems and related OSHA and Robotic Industries Association (RIA) Standards. Guidance is provided on the hazards associated with industrial robots and robot systems and the elements of effective robot system safety.
 
Course topics include types and classifications of industrial robots, robot components, programming, hazard recognition and control including control of hazardous energy sources (lockout/tagout), and risk assessments. Program highlights include a risk assessment practical exercise including scenario-based risk assessments.

Course Objectives
Upon successful course completion, participants will be able to recognize the types and classifications of industrial robots, explain common robot components, identify common robot and robot system hazards, explain investigation guidelines for evaluating robot and robot system hazards, and complete a robotic risk assessment. Minimum contact hours: 6.5

Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop. Participants will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as their browser for compatibility with Canvas.

Please read:  This virtual course consists of live-online Zoom sessions, as well as pre- and post-session activities in Canvas, our online learning management system. Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a webcam and microphone. You must attend 100% of all Zoom sessions and complete all required online course assignments in order to receive an electronic certificate of completion and CEUs. Students will need to keep their video on throughout the class to confirm attendance and participation. Attending the course on an I-Phone, tablet or iPad is not allowed. You will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as your browser for compatibility with Canvas. Use of multiple devices, taking photos or recording any part of the training sessions is not allowed. Approximately one week prior to the start date of the course, a reminder email with a short orientation video and instructions for course access will be sent to you via email.
