This course covers recognition of hazards and risks associated with a pandemic illness event and development of strategies to assist a business, community, or family with realistic preparation for a pandemic event. Course topics include potential impact of a pandemic illness event on a business and community, critical elements of a preparedness plan, and realistic strategies for supporting continuity of operations. This course offers information on strategies that can be used to control the spread of the illness, minimization of exposure to employees and family, and resources available from OSHA and other government agencies. The intended audience is the business leader and members of their management team who may be integral to preparedness planning.

Upon course completion, students will have the ability to prepare for a pandemic to assure business continuity and employee safety. Minimum student contact hours: 5.5

Please read:  The virtual course will consist of live-online Zoom sessions, as well as pre and post session activities in Canvas, our online learning management system. Participation in the virtual course is limited to residents of OSHA Region V including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.  Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a Webcam and Microphone. You must attend 100% of all Zoom sessions and complete all required online course assignments in order to receive an electronic certificate of completion and CEUs. Students will need to keep their Video On throughout the class to confirm attendance and participation in the course. Attending the course on an I-Phone, tablet or iPad is not allowed.  You will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as your browser for compatibility with Canvas. Use of multiple devices, taking photos or recording any part of the training sessions is not allowed.  Participants will need to attend a short orientation session prior to the start of the course. During this time, we’ll ensure that your laptop or computer, webcam and audio are functioning properly. We’ll also introduce you to Canvas and explain how to navigate and find all required training materials and coursework assignments.
