(Virtual) OSHA #503 Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers

This course is designed for Outreach Training Program trainers who have completed course #501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry and who are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program. The course provides an update on OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and regulations.

Upon course completion students will have the ability to demonstrate continued professional development in their field by applying effective adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify, define, and explain general industry hazards and acceptable corrective measures as they continue to teach the 10- and 30-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program classes. Minimum student contact hours: 18


Prerequisites:
OSHA #501 Trainer Course in Occupational Stafey and Health Standards for General Industry. Authorized Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend this course once every four (4) years to maintain their trainer status. Prior to registration, students must complete a shortened version of the Prerequisite Verification Form and return it to ppat@emich.edu along with a copy of their current Outreach Training Program trainer card (or official transcript showing successful completion of the OSHA #501 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry) and Driver's License. A current copy of OSHA's 29 CFR 1910 General Safety Standard is required for the class.

Notice

Please read:  The virtual course will consist of live-online Zoom sessions, as well as pre and post session activities in Canvas, our online learning management system. Participation in the virtual course is limited to residents of OSHA Region V including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. A federal, state, or local government issued photo ID (present at check-in on the first day of class). Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a Webcam and Microphone. You must attend 100% of all Zoom sessions and complete all required online course assignments in order to receive an electronic certificate of completion and CEUs. Students will need to keep their Video On throughout the class to confirm attendance and participation in the course. Attending the course on an I-Phone, tablet or iPad is not allowed. You will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as your browser for compatibility with Canvas. Use of multiple devices, taking photos or recording any part of the training sessions is not allowed. Participants will need to attend a short orientation session prior to the start of the course. During this time, we’ll ensure that your laptop or computer, webcam and audio are functioning properly. We’ll also introduce you to Canvas and explain how to navigate and find all required training materials and coursework assignments.
