« back to classes page
SEL 101 is an overview of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) processes, designed to support teachers, guidance counselors, and social workers. It is oriented toward applied practice and organized around the 6 domains of SEL as it is described in the Thrive Guide (https://www.selpractices.org/) curated by The David P. Weikart Center. This course provides an accessible, general overview of SEL to be used to build or support existing curriculum across the K-12 spectrum. The course is interactive, using images, short films and case study/scenarios to illustrate situations where educators/counselors can augment instruction and support student learning by employing skills that are driven by social and emotional learning processes.

To participate, you will need a stable Internet connection. It is self-paced and divided into 4 different educational modules.

Students may register and start the online course at almost any time within the term, and then have until the end of the term to complete the class. A welcome email with login credentials will be sent within three (3) business days of registration.
