EMU Windgate Fellows 3D Visual Arts Camp
9th-12th Graders
This new 3D Visual Arts Camp at the Windgate Arts Complex offers students the opportunity to explore EMU’s state-of-the-art three-dimensional studios. Campers will work in a professional environment alongside experienced EMU Windgate Fellows, engaging in hands-on projects, skill-building activities, and creative exploration designed to support artistic growth.
Students will design and build a coordinated set of objects across ceramics, woodworking, and metal fabrication, including a clay cup or mug, a wooden display box, and a steel wall bracket or stand. Over four days, they rotate through studios to learn foundational techniques in each area, forming and finishing ceramics, introductory woodworking and veneering, and metal fabrication using tools such as the plasma cutter and brake. The camp concludes with students assembling all three pieces and participating in a group critique focused on design, craftsmanship, and creative process.
