Credential Overview

This microcredential course empowers teachers with practical, research-based strategies for delivering culturally and linguistically responsive instruction to English learners across all content areas. Participants will actively apply a clear four-principle framework to their own lesson planning, ensuring that responsiveness becomes an integral part of their daily practice.

Competencies and Skills

Foundational competencies in culturally and linguistically responsive instruction for English learners, with the following outcomes:
 
  1. Demonstrate understanding of the four principles of the SINC Framework (Scaffolding, Inclusion, Noticing of language, and Connecting) by identifying and applying them to instructional planning.
  2. Create an annotated lesson plan that illustrates the effective integration of SINC principles, showing the ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse linguistic and cultural needs of English learners.
  3. Reflect on and justify instructional decisions by explaining how the application of SINC principles supports equitable participation, language development, and academic success for English learners.
