7410 Managing Excavation Hazards

This course covers the roles and responsibilities of the employer to educate and assign a competent person to excavation sites. Course topics include understanding and application of definitions relating to the OSHA Excavation Standard, excavation hazards and control measures, soil analysis techniques, protective system requirements and emergency response. Upon course completion, students will understand the importance and duties of a competent person in excavation work and have the knowledge and skills required performing these duties. Minimum student contact hours: 6.5

Please read:  This program is offered at a discounted rate to support OSHA's National Emphasis Program (NEP) on preventing trenching and excavation collapses in response to a recent spike in trenching fatalities. The NEP will increase education and enforcement efforts. The program began on October 1, 2018 with a three-month period of education and prevention outreach. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in and pick up your course materials. Lunch is on your own. Certificates of completion will be issued by the instructor at the end of the seminar.
