Course Description
Our brains are wired to make quick judgments. Implicit bias refers to the unconscious attitudes and assumptions we hold about others.
Implicit biases may be triggered by social characteristics such as:
- Age
- Gender
- Sexual orientation
- Race
- Culture
- Education level
- Health status
In this workshop, participants will:
- Examine their own implicit biases through guided reflection
- Explore how unconscious bias impacts diverse populations
- Discuss barriers and disparities in access to and delivery of healthcare services
- Understand the effects of stereotypes, racism, and discrimination
- Strengthen cultural competence in professional practice
- Learn practical, actionable strategies to reduce and remediate implicit bias
This course equips professionals with the awareness and tools needed to foster equity, improve client outcomes, and provide culturally responsive care.
This course offers 3 CEUs and they will count towards your social work licensure requirements.
Instructor

Hawra Khraizat, LMSW, MA, completed her MSW degree from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. Hawra is a licensed clinical therapist who has a wide range of experience working with children, adults, and families. Her scope of practice includes treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, OCD, ADD/ADHD, relationship and communication issues, and cultural identity-related issues. Hawra is passionate about educating providers on topics including: Grief, Loss and Healing, Anger and Forgiveness, Dealing with Difficult Clients, Human Trafficking and Building Childhood Resilience.
Course Format
To participate, you will need a stable Internet connection and Zoom app installed in your computer to have all zoom features available to you. Please visit the Zoom System Requirements site for the technical requirements that you will need. Due to this course being a Live-Online course, you are required to have your video on and actively participate to earn your CEUs. Participation is through audio and/or chat. Please note that failure to actively participate will result in ineligibility for CEU credit
A couple of days before the course date, you will receive an email with an invitation to register for the Zoom meeting. Once you register on Zoom, you will receive the link to join the meeting on the day/time of the course. You can also visit the Zoom Help Center to learn usage before your scheduled course.
