Course Title
OSHA #7400: Occupational Noise Exposure Hazards

Course Description 
This course focuses on describing noise hazards in the workplace.  Course includes; OSHA occupational noise exposure standards, properties of sound, noise-induced hearing loss, noise exposure control, selection and use of hearing protection, and sound level surveys and noise dosimetry, and worker training. Classroom demonstrations of noise instrumentation and hearing protection devices are featured. The target audience is the employer or representative designated with the responsibility to develop a noise program.

Course Objectives 
At the conclusion of this course, students will understand properties of sound and its relationship to noise-induced hearing loss, hearing protection usage, and using a sound level meter. Minimum student contact hours: 7.5

  • Device Rules: Must use a desktop or laptop computer at a home or office (iPhones, iPads, and tablets are strictly prohibited).
  • Technical Setup: Requires a working webcam, microphone, stable internet connection, and Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browser.
  • Camera Policy: Video must remain on continuously throughout class to verify attendance and participation.
  • Prohibited Actions: Using multiple devices, taking photos, or recording any session.
  • Completion Criteria: Must attend 100% of Zoom sessions and finish all Canvas assignments to earn CEUs and an electronic certificate.
  • Course Access: Reminder email containing access instructions and an orientation video arrives roughly one week prior to start.
