Course Title
NFPA 70E Electrical Safety (Low Voltage)

Course Description 
This course provides comprehensive training on electrical safety procedures and planning using the latest NFPA 70E (2024) Standard, along with applicable OSHA standards and best practices. Topics include establishing an electrically safe work condition, recognizing and controlling electrical hazards, lockout/tagout procedures, arc flash protection, personal protective equipment (PPE), electrical maintenance requirements, and the relationship between NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70B, OSHA 1910 Subpart S, and OSHA 1926 Subpart K. Classroom instruction is reinforced through interactive discussions and practical application activities.

Course Objectives
Upon course completion, students will be able to identify electrical hazards and implement appropriate protective measures to reduce the risk of shock, electrocution, and arc flash. Participants will understand the relationship between NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements, establish electrically safe work conditions, determine appropriate arc flash PPE categories, recognize employer and employee responsibilities, perform electrical hazard analyses, identify safety-related maintenance requirements, and apply safe work practices when working on or near energized electrical equipment. Students will also learn the significant updates introduced in the 2024 edition of NFPA 70E, including changes to Article 120, risk assessment procedures, PPE standards, and Arc Flash tables.

Course Materials and Required Software Applications
Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a Webcam and Microphone. Participants will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as their browser for compatibility with Canvas.

Please read:  This virtual course consists of live-online Zoom sessions, as well as pre- and post-session activities in Canvas, our online learning management system. Participation in this virtual OSHA numbered course is limited to participants working or living within the Great Lakes Region 5 (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota). A federal, state, or local government issued photo ID must be presented at check-in on the first day of class. Participants will need to attend the course from either a home or office on a computer or laptop equipped with a webcam and microphone. You must attend 100% of all Zoom sessions and complete all required online course assignments in order to receive an electronic certificate of completion and CEUs. Students will need to keep their video on throughout the class to confirm attendance and participation. Attending the course on an I-Phone, tablet or iPad is not allowed. You will need to have a stable Internet connection, and use either Chrome, Firefox or Safari as your browser for compatibility with Canvas. Use of multiple devices, taking photos or recording any part of the training sessions is not allowed. Approximately one week prior to the start date of the course, a reminder email with a short orientation video and instructions for course access will be sent to you via email.
